Hurry, Hurry... Fight the Fire!!!

Today we spent a few hours at the West Jordan fire station for a field trip with Brenna's pre-school. They have been learning about safety in school, and yesterday they got to meet a police officer and he talked to them about what police do and that they are always there to help if they were in trouble... Today Brenna was especially excited because her Grandpa Eldredge is a retired fire fighter. She was excited to see just what he used to do. We started off the field trip in the living quarters of the fire house... they must have just finished with breakfast because it smelled YUMMY! Captain Spencer showed the kids there kitchen, tv room, work out room, and bedrooms. After we got the tour of the fire house it was time to go see the what they were all so anxious to see... THE FIRE TRUCK!

Then Captain Spencer showed the kids all of the fireman gear they have to wear... At this point Brenna started getting a litte freaked out... then he pulled out the oxygen mask... she didn't like Captain Spencer much anymore. Her teacher Miss Beckie then got to get all dressed in the gear... we learned that everything they have to wear into a fire weighs about 65 pounds all together. WOW... After Miss Beckie had some of the gear on we stopped for a class photo!

Then Miss Beckie got the final touches to the gear put on... the oxygen tank and mask... Brenna didn't like this AT ALL! The tear started to roll! She wanted to go home!

Sam was TOTALLY into this whole fire fighter thing... he was all about getting his turn to hold the fire hose and to drive the firetruck.

Then to top it all off... the end of the field trip had approached and Captain Spencer and his platoon (platoon A) got an emergency call and we got to watch them rush into there uniforms and then the truck turned on the lights and sirens and off they went to be hero's! What a great end to the day!

Posting overload...

I know I just put up a few long posts... sorry, I haven't been the best at keeping up with my blogging after surgery. Hope you all enjoy what I have for you today!

Sammy is 2!!!

On April 24th, 2007 we were greeted by this beautiful little man... our little Sam! He was such a joy, and such an easy baby. He an Brenna quickly bonded and have been inseperable ever since. We all loved him instantly... How could we not. Is was adorable...

And here we are, 2 years later... We just celebrated his 2nd birthday on Friday... As I tried to get ready for his birthday... the kid was into EVERYTHING! So of course the poor kid was in and out of time out all day. As his party approached, he just got even grumpier (I swear, that it's my party and I'll cry if I want to song was written for a very good reason). My kids tend to ALWAYS be winey butts on there special day! My attempts at trying to get a cute birthday picture of him... as you can see he is crying, eyes puffy and red... oh well, he is still cute!

A few pics of the decotations... As most know Sam LOVES spongebob... so we did none other than a spongebob themed party. I didn't go all out on the decorations, because I was already feeling overwhelmed when I woke up... My energy just hasn't replenished itself. I was up until 1am the night before decorating the cupcake cake... yes, I did make it myself... so DONT LAUGH!!!

We also rented one of those big bounce houses with a slide... definately worth it! They dropped it off around noon, so the kids were out back for a good part of the day playing, giving me time to get the house cleaned up. All the kids at the party enjoyed themselves... rain and all.

He made out like a bandit, and had a lot of spongebob stuff. He love it! And he even got a big boy bike from Mommy, Daddy, and Sissy... Overall the day was absolutely wonderful, and EXHAUSTING (for mommy of course)!

For the end of this little post I just want to tell you all some of my favorite things about Sam...

I love his Energy, although he doesn't let me sit often, he is ALWAYS having fun. He can keep me entertained all day long.

He has such a fun little free spirit. Not a care in the world.

He is VERY tender hearted. He loves his family, and at 2 years old it surprises me just how much love he has to give to others... just the other day he was downstairs with Bill, and Brenna was upstairs crying. Bill said as soon as he heard her crying, he stopped what he was doing and said "Daddy, Sissy crying!" and with such concern on his face came running upstairs to make sure she was okay.

He has the most contageous smile! It is sure to light up the room and brighten anyones day.

I love that EVERYWHERE we go, he gets attention from girls, women, grandma... all the ladies just love him, and he is such a LADIES man. Another quick story, one day Bill, myself, and the kids were at the mall just bumming, and seeing the easter bunny... as we were leaving, Sam was walking slowly (yes he has to walk EVERYWHERE now... no more strollers, he's BIG) and as he was tagging behind us he saw a lady who worked there and he stopped to say hi and gave her that cute little smile. The lady quickly bent down to his level and started telling him what a cute boy he was (as most ladies do) and then she stood up and said "Bye sweetie, you better go get your mommy" (I was standing just a few feet away)... so what does Sam do??? He grabs her hand and starts walking... The ladies heart just melted and she walked him all the way to the door... gave him a hug. And we were on our way. He totally made that ladies day!

So, with that... I will say, Happy Birthday little "Sam I Am". I love you so much!

Finger painting with.... Ice Cream!

I seriously don't know what I am going to do with this boy! I love him dearly, but he is deffinately giving us a run for our money. Can't remember the exact day this happened, but it was about a week ago... I had been in and out of the ER that weekend, so everything is a little boggled. Anyway, I was lounging in the livingroom, and Bill and the kids were eating some ice cream. Both Bill and Brenna finished, and came into the livingroom with me leaving Sam at the table to finish... Mistake???? YES! About 5 minutes later Sam called out "Daddy, I Done!" So Bill gets up walks into the kitchen, turns looks at me, shaking his head and says..."Jess, come here... your gonna want your camera for this one." So of course I quickly head to the kitchen, grab my camera on the way and walk in to this... Sam was sooooo proud of his beautiful chocolate/peanutbutter art work! He said "I did IT!" Love this kid! Really I do!

Easter Sunday 2009

Easter sunday was a great day overall... Bill had to work that night so aside from the morning mumbo jumbo, it was just the kids and I. Bill slept the day way so he could be up all night.

The kids were both totally excited when they woke up... Sam woke up and came out of his room and looked at what the Easter bunny left and Yelled "MINE!" He is at such a fun age... so Sam and I went and woke up daddy then Brenna and he happily skipped back down the hallway to dig in to his basket. Brenna is such a little priss girl and the easter bunny hit the jack pot with the ring he brought her, and of course the lipstick. And of course Sam thought the eggs were Balls, he had eggs and grass flying all over the house... typical boy!

After they dug through there baskets and enjoyed all they wanted, I got them dressed in there easter outfits right away, so they could go out in the front yard and find the eggs the easter bunny hid. They each got 10 eggs with 50 cents in each of them... a whopping 5 dollars! Sweet! They both have a new found love for money... I am so screwed! We then rushed inside and as they both emptied there eggs into there piggy banks...

I made breakfast...they wanted pancakes, so what did I do???? I made pink and purple easter egg pancakes which I decorated with frosting... I know not the healthiest topping, but they LOVED it! And when Bill woke up later that day, he saw I had left him some to eat, and he too thought they were cute.

After breakfast we went and spent a little time at my sisters, she fed us a yummy ham dinner, and then we took off and met up with one of my besties Amberlee, her mom, and her kids for a little fun at the park. It started to get chilly out so we left the park and went back to her mom's for a little easter egg hunt... the kids made out like bandits, and it was a great visit. Amberlee moved away to Alaska 3 days later so it was great to have some last minute time with her and her beautiful boys!

He's a MONSTER!!!!

This week Sam has put me to quite the test... I am so limited with my surgery and all... however just cause I have to slow down doesn't mean that he will. He has found a new favorite place to eat... sitting on top of the table. He has learned a new phrase "I be Nice"... so now I am getting the guilt trips. And just the past couple days he has learned to open the doors... so now I can't keep him confined. Although it is nice to not have to get up in the morning to get him, he just comes to me... good luck getting him to stay in his room for bed or naps! I can't believe he will be turning the "Terrible" two on Friday... he is just growing up way to fast!

I'll follow the rules now...

UPDATE:
Well, Fri. I ended up with yet another gush of blood... so I imediately called the on call doc in my doctors office. He said he didn't believe what the ER Doc the night before had said was correct. He said he believed that I had a Hematoma (or blood clot) that had ruptured on Thurs. and that I must still have blood coming from somewhere if I was to have yet another gush the next day. He said to stay down as much as possible and if the bleeding didn't slow or change color I was to return to the ER. So 3 hours after I talked to him I headed into the ER once again. Only to get there and see the same doc as the day before. I told her what the doctor had told me over the phone and she then decided to take a little better precaution and she did an ulta-sound to make sure I didn't have anymore clots that they could see, which I didn't. She had stated that there is in fact something wrong because I shouldn't be bleeding post hysterectamy (Duh) and that the blood has to be coming from somewhere... however because my blood count is still stable and I am only having dizziness when I first stand that I am not loosing too much blood. So now I get to stay on extreme light duty in hopes that the bleeding will stop on its own, and then I check in with my doc on Tues. If the bleeding doesn't stop on it's own the only way to fix it is to open me back up to find it and stop it. I hope that it stops on it's own... I don't want to go back into surgery... but the fact that I am bleeding internally somewhere freaks me out even more. I just can't wait to speak with my own doctor!!!

(Caution: This may be a little too graffic for the weak stomach) I have always been a little bit of a rebel. Pushing the limits every chance I get. Like to make my own rules to obide by... Well, I have officially learned my lesson on rules, and why they are put in place. And most importantly why you should follow them. Yesterday we were lucky to have a visit from Bill's mom and Step-dad whom are up here for a wedding on Saturday. They stopped by around 3pm and after about an hour visiting... we all went out to dinner at IHOP (they have officially be put on the "never to return to" list after Sam had not one but two pieces of hair on his food!). While there, Brenna (of course) has to go to the bathroom. So when she and I were done, of course we have to wash our hands... The sink was to high for Brenna... So what do I do???? Lift her up so she can wash. Had her held up for a couple minutes and as I put her down, something just didn't feel right... had kinda a warm sensation in my abdomin. Thought to myself, just being paranoid...I had just used the bathroom and aside from the minor spotting there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. We went back out to finish our meal, then headed home. By now it was about 5:30, and as soon as I walked in the door... I just wanted to check (just to be safe) that there wasn't really anything wrong. So, go into the bathroom... pull down my pants, and Whala! The pad I was wearing was SOAKED in bright red blood... and the water was now turning a lovely shade as well. I tell Brenna (who follows me everywhere I go) to go get daddy. He comes in, at this point I am terrified and I show him the mess, and say get the kids in the car we are going to the ER. He quickly does so. On our way to the hospital, we dropped our kids off to my Dad. Once ariving at the hospital, I was feeling a little queezy to say the least. Didn't know whether this was nerves or something else... they took me right back after checking my vitals which weren't too bad... just a little high heart rate... my heart was just a POUNDING! It wasn't much longer before I had a guy poking me with needles, taking blood and putting in an IV. After getting the fluids pumping in me. At this point it seemed that the bleeding had slowed WAY down... whew! The Doc came in and took a look... she determined I had popped a blood vessel (explaining the enitial warmth aka gush), and also that some pieces of the scabbing which were apparently not ready to come off had come off. She said I wasn't bleeding too bad anymore, just kinda oozing.... So what did I get to endure now you ask???? Well she carterized my insides, and filled me full of some gauze that has a clotting medicine on it. Then I had to wait an hour, and she came back to check. The bleeding had stopped so I got to come home. Now two weeks after my surgery and I had been feeling like I am back on top of the world... I have quickly been brought back to reality. I am just a little sore from all the poking, prauding, and burning I had... and probably prolonged my healing, but I am doing good. Needless to say, from this point on I vow to follow ALL the rules. And I now know I don't need to feel guilty for having the help even though I feel perfectly capable to do things on my own. Although I am ready to be back to normal mentally, my body just isn't ready yet. I guess the bottom line is... I have to deal with these restrictions whether I like it or not. I don't want to end up doing something worse to myself. Last night scared me so bad, I don't want to do that again!
