The Fray

On Saturday, I went with my step-mom Sunney to the much awaited Fray concert! She had mentioned she wanted to go a few months back but didn't have anyone to go with... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I love The Fray! So of course, I had to offer to go with... much to my surprise, she even bought the tickets! We have been counting down the days, and I was so super excited that the day had finally came! The opening band was a local from Denver that The Fray had brought with them to a few shows. They were called "Meese". I was pleased with there music, as was Sunney... she even bought there CD. The second to come out was Jacks Mannequin! I was very excited about them. Although they aren't as well know as The Fray, I was just as excited to see them as I was The Fray. They were really good, and the lead singer was quite the entertaining pianist. He got really into it, and abused his piano just slightly! Then out came The Fray! I was really pleased with them live. They sound just as good live as they do on their CD if not better. Overall it was a great concert. Very mellow, and a good croud. Thank you Sunney for taking me! It was a lot of fun, can't wait to do it again!
The other day Bill told me to come in the bathroom. Bill had just gotten out of the shower and was shaving his face. Sam loves to be in the bathroom and watch Bill when he shaves. So when I went in there, Sam had shaving cream all over his hands and was rubbing it on his face like daddy... so he could pretend shave it off. He is just too cute and such a ham! Does this remind you of anyone??? Home alone perhaps???

Happy 3rd Benjamin!

On Saturday, we went to my little nephew's birthday party. It is hard to believe that he is already 3! Time flies! He was just adorable opening his gifts... and I must say I LOVE The new haircut he has! Hope you had a great birthday Benjamin. We love you!

Successful Fishing!

Last week, we took the kids fishing up at mirror lake. We were joined by James (a guy from Bill's work) and his wife. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, perfect for fishing. It was about 68 degrees way up there... and it was soooo beautiful. Brenna was the first to catch a fish. This was her first catch EVER! She was excited until we lifted the fish out of the water to get the hook out and it was wiggling everywhere. Then she was a little weary... She was fine taking pictures as long as she was on the oposite side of the fish. Not only did Brenna catch the first fish... she caught the first 3, and the only albino trout of the day. After that her beginners luck ran out and she didn't get anymore bites. Bill and James were fly fishing, and I don't know how many they caught... but they did pretty well! I myself caught 3 as well, and I got the biggest catch of the day. Poor Sam didn't catch anything... he was more interested in realing in the line after I would cast it out. Oh well, it kept him busy! After fishing, the kids were pooped. Sam was passed out before we even left the parking lot of mirror lake. On our way home we decided to check out a few camp spots, and different lakes. Bill just HAD to make a trip to his FAVORITE lake ever... Beth Lake! Although it isn't the easiest lake to get to, you have to take it very slow and you need some clearance... no cars on this dirt road! We finally made it there... and aside from the MASS amounts of bugs flying around your head it was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. It is a pretty secluded place that not many people know about. The kids walked around and picked wild flowers for me... and I got some really good pictures of them sitting in the flowers. It was a very relaxing and beautiful day!

A new addition...

This is Roxy!!! Our newest and final family pet! She is a 3yr old female boxer and we are so in love with her! She has amazing temperment, and is super gentle with the kids. She LOVES to lick, and Brenna loves her kisses all over her face. She is settling in really well, and we couldn't be happier with her.

Family outing...

On Tuesday, we decided to take a drive to the mountains with the kids. We went up mirror lake road (one of my favorite places ever) stopped at trial lake for a picnic and a little fishing. The we went over soap stone, through tabiona, came out in duschane... we stopped for a quick visit with an old friend just outside of duschane then headed back home. It ended up being a VERY long (we didnt pull into the driveway till nearly 10pm) relaxing and fun drive in beautiful scenery.

Kid's say the DARNDEST things... AGAIN!

So day, we were driving down the road and the truck was engulfed in the smell of SKUNK! Ewww... Brenna says, "Ewww mom, it stinks.... They spray the smelly stuff out of there bum, and that is why they are called a "STUNK" huh!" She is so cute!!!

Kids Say the Darndest things....

So, last night Brenna and I were getting out of the shower and Brenna quite innocently asks me "Mommy, Why do we have gas in our body? Like when I fart, it is gas..." I replied "I don't know why honey, but it is normal. Everyone has gas, some peoples is just worse than others." Then she spouts off with this... "Well I don't get it mom, Gas belongs in cars!" Yeah, I lost it! Laughed my butt off!!!

Let's be FESTIVE....

I have been slacking on the quality time with my kids lately... And Brenna is missing being in school REALLY bad so on Tuesday night before bed I promised Brenna that we would head over to the craft store and get her an art project to do. I had forgotten that I was going to be tending my sister's little girl Reese on Wednesday and Thursday so she was lucky to participate! When we got to Michael's (the craft store) I had no idea what I was looking for... something to go with the upcoming holiday that I was all I was sure of. Well nearly right when you walk in the store in the isle they had Tye Dye kits.... WHAT A FUN IDEA! So I grabed one, and some fabric puff paint (with glitter) then headed on over to Kohl's for some white shirts. We started rubberbanding the shirts up right when we got home. Dying them was a little messy, so we did it outside on the grass. Reese and Sam had spotted feet from walking through the dye on the grass, and my hands are still blue! I let them sit until that night then washed and dried them so we could paint them today. I am VERY pleased with how stinkin' cute they turned out and although I did most of the work, the kids are super happy with the end result. Brenna wanted shooting stars, Reese wanted a firework and stars... Sam obviously didn't have much of an opinion so he got what I gave him. I had to make one for myself too... can't wait to wear them on Saturday!

"West Fest"

Every year West Valley City throws a little carnival called the "West Fest" and we try to go to one of the several things they put on each year. On Saturday morning they had the West Valley City 4th of July parade. We are fortunate enough to have the parade pass right by our neighbor hood, less than a 3 minute walk to see it! This year it was the kids and I along with our neighbor, her kids and extended family. Brenna was scared of every mascot that passed by, and Sam was in awww... They bothed LOVED to look at the fire engines, but didn't like the loud sirens and horns. There was this wierd hoola hooping old lady, and even some roller skating dancers. The indian Dancers were pretty good too. Brenna's favorite part of the parade was the end when the float with the "princess'" (west valley royalty) as she called them passed by and waved right at her! The rest of the day we just ran errands and such... even got a car wash by the Hunter High cheerleaders! Then that night Bill, the kids and myself walked over to the park near our house where the carnival is held and picked a spot to lay out a blanket and watched the firework show they put on. Honestly this is the worst firework show I have seen here yet! Must be lack of funds or something cause they are deffinately capable of better!
