Hi. I was looking at google images to figure out what the swelling on my cheek/under my eye is, and I came across your blog about your child getting bit on the face and being allergic to mosquitos. The pattern of swelling is super similar to mine but mine has been extremely slow to come along. I was bit on Friday while hiking and was surprised that I didn't get a mosquito bite bump on my face. I thought I coincidentally got a zit in the area because it did not itch. But a slow swelling since maybe Saturday or Sunday and now I look like your daughter's swelling (but not as bad). It is the exact same pattern with the bump/bite/(what I thought was a pimple) on my cheek and the swelling going upward toward my eye (but not downward). So I have some questions. Did hers seem to itch? because mine does not. Mine is also not as red . . . just swollen. It is a little tender, but not terrible. Any thoughts? Have you heard of a delayed reaction to a bite like this? I am 26 and have never had a problem like this from a mosquito before.

side note now that I just read christina's comment... Cali had a swollen eye from a mosquito bite last weekend. Maybe it's in the common genes of our family? crazy...
but what I was really going to say... LET'S PLAY! PLEASE!

Christina anytime you have an open wound or bite you can get an infection. In my daughters case whenever she gets a bite, it swells immediately in turn giving more room for infection to spread. She gets an infection that is called Cellulitis (infection of the skin). This type of infections doesn't necessarily have to occur immediately. It could take a few days, and it doesn't have to be caused by a bite either... If I were you I would recomend seeing a doctor. Especially with the swelling on your face and around you eye... not to freak you out, but I was told that the infection can spread behind your eye and into your brain stem and cause some sevier damage. When my daughter gets mosquito bites they very rarely itch... they are most often painful but that is because of her allergy to them, and how fast the infections spread. Hope I was some help to you! and Good luck!

Steph, YES!!! I am so up for a get together SOON!!! You tell me when your available and we will plan something!
