Hurry, Hurry... Fight the Fire!!!

Today we spent a few hours at the West Jordan fire station for a field trip with Brenna's pre-school. They have been learning about safety in school, and yesterday they got to meet a police officer and he talked to them about what police do and that they are always there to help if they were in trouble... Today Brenna was especially excited because her Grandpa Eldredge is a retired fire fighter. She was excited to see just what he used to do. We started off the field trip in the living quarters of the fire house... they must have just finished with breakfast because it smelled YUMMY! Captain Spencer showed the kids there kitchen, tv room, work out room, and bedrooms. After we got the tour of the fire house it was time to go see the what they were all so anxious to see... THE FIRE TRUCK!

Then Captain Spencer showed the kids all of the fireman gear they have to wear... At this point Brenna started getting a litte freaked out... then he pulled out the oxygen mask... she didn't like Captain Spencer much anymore. Her teacher Miss Beckie then got to get all dressed in the gear... we learned that everything they have to wear into a fire weighs about 65 pounds all together. WOW... After Miss Beckie had some of the gear on we stopped for a class photo!

Then Miss Beckie got the final touches to the gear put on... the oxygen tank and mask... Brenna didn't like this AT ALL! The tear started to roll! She wanted to go home!

Sam was TOTALLY into this whole fire fighter thing... he was all about getting his turn to hold the fire hose and to drive the firetruck.

Then to top it all off... the end of the field trip had approached and Captain Spencer and his platoon (platoon A) got an emergency call and we got to watch them rush into there uniforms and then the truck turned on the lights and sirens and off they went to be hero's! What a great end to the day!
